Field trips and nature walks are also included as part of our learning experience here at Griffith. Children should dress for play, with all belongings clearly marked with their name.

Children five and up occasionally go on field trips for cultural events and special theater/musical events. The children are transported in a mini school bus which is fully equipped with standard safety features.

Summer Program

Although Griffith is a year-round school, the summer portion of the year for threes and fours is an exciting theme-based program! Outside activities such as bowling, swimming and trips to the movies, museums, children’s cultural programs, the Springs Preserve, Anderson Dairy, etc. are a part of the Summer Program. Each week is a different theme through which the children learn about different cultures, the ocean, recycling, the Old West, etc. The last two weeks of the program are always about saving the Rainforest or the wetlands or some endangered species. The children make and sell crafts and collect donations which are then sent to the Nature Conservancy/Earth’s Birthday Project or some other group in conjunction with Earth’s Birthday Project.

If registered for the Before/After School program, older children, from five through eleven, are also able to attend the Summer Program. Older children who just want to be here for the summer may register and just be here for the ten weeks of ‘camp’ or for a minimum of three weeks.

Our Summer Program has been the answer to “I’m bored! What is there to do?” for almost thirty years!
